March is Women’s History Month, but all year round, we are reminded of the power of women. As a woman-owned dispensary, we’re all about lifting up the ladies and making sure our staff is stacked with fantastic femmes.
On top of that, we stock our shelves with woman-owned companies that are shaping the cannabis industry. Let’s dive into their stories, their brands, and why we are so proud to have them in our store.
Precious Osagie-Erese | PRECIOUS
Some brands are built on passion. PRECIOUS is built on power. This woman-empowering brand was founded by Precious Osagie-Erese, a nationally recognized and award-winning entrepreneur born in Nigeria and raised in East Orange, NJ (fellow Jersey girl!).
She also co-founded Roll Up Life, Inc. (RUL) in 2019, where she serves as COO and helped build New Jersey’s first Black-owned tech, delivery, and logistics cannabis company. Recognizing the deep lack of minority representation in the industry, Osagie-Erese made it her mission to create a socially conscious solution to cannabis access with an emphasis on economic empowerment for Black and Brown communities.
Osagie-Erese earned a B.S. in journalism from Howard and a M.S. in journalism from Colombia University, and she brings her sharp eye for storytelling and strategy to her brands. Her expertise in journalism, marketing, and communications pushes the industry forward. As the first Black-owned pre-roll brand in Jersey, Precious created a space for the dreamers, the fighters, and the changemakers.
“Being a leading female entrepreneur in legal cannabis in 2025 means breaking barriers, reshaping narratives, and creating space for those who have been historically overlooked. As a Black woman in this industry, I’m not just building a brand—I’m building a legacy of equity, ownership, and empowerment. Women who enjoy cannabis have long been ignored by the market, and PRECIOUS is here to change that. We are creating space for women to be authentically themselves, to indulge without stigma, and to see themselves reflected in this industry in a way they never have before.”
– Precious Osagie-Erese, Founder of PRECIOUS Canna Co.

Matha Figaro | ButACake
If you think cannabis edibles can’t be gourmet, you haven’t met Matha Figaro. A first-generation Haitian-American pastry chef from Jersey City (another Jersey girl!), Figaro founded ButACake in 2015 with a mission to craft top-tier, mouthwatering infused treats that serve both flavor lovers and medical patients alike. As the first Black woman to own and operate an independent cannabis edibles brand in New Jersey, she’s using her Le Cordon Bleu culinary training to make history one bite at a time.
ButACake’s products—like decadent brownies and fast-dissolving THC oral strips (think breath fresheners, but better)—are all about quality, precision, and that perfect dose. Figaro is also the force behind CannPowerment, an independent manufacturing company pushing cannabis forward. When it comes to cannabis, Figaro proves that you can have your cake and eat it too:
“Being a Black American woman entrepreneur in 2025, alongside my founder, CEO, and partner Matha—a first-generation Haitian woman—in the male-dominated cannabis industry is both a formidable challenge and a powerful opportunity. We navigate a space where the odds are often stacked against us, yet our resilience and unique perspectives fuel our journey. We are NOT just building a business; we ARE creating a legacy. ButACake is more than a brand—it’s a passion project that allows us to channel our creativity, nourish hospitality, and craft delectable treats. Together, Matha and I are dedicated to breaking barriers, advocating for diversity, and showing that innovation and leadership know no bounds of gender or race. In this space, we are determined to thrive, uplift our community, and drive lasting change.”

Nancy Whiteman | Wana
When it comes to cannabis edibles, Wana Brands is a household name, and that’s all thanks to Nancy Whiteman. As co-founder and former CEO, Nancy took Wana from a small kitchen experiment in Colorado to one of the largest cannabis gummy brands in the world, all without outside funding. As a former insurance executive, her journey into the industry started with a few not-so-subtle hints from her daughter’s friend’s dad about his work in what was then considered an “illicit market.”
Fast forward to today, and Wana’s precision-dosed, terpene-rich gummies have set the standard for infused edibles everywhere, but Whiteman’s impact is also about giving back. In 2021, she donated $50 million to the Wana Foundation, funding research at Johns Hopkins University on the medical benefits of cannabis and psychedelics. Beyond shaping the industry, she is making sure its future is backed by science and social responsibility.
“This is quite a male-dominated industry,” Whiteman reflected in a recent interview with Cannabis Business Times. “It’s important for women to resource themselves with relationships and connections and partnerships in general but also specifically with other women. I think that there’s just a tremendous power and a lot of incredibly talented women in this industry. Make sure that you are meeting them and cultivating those friendships and those partnerships and looking to add value to each other. I think that’s just critically important for women to get the support from other women to keep going because sometimes it can be hard.”

Anna Duckworth and Kate Miller | Miss Grass
Founded by Kate Miller and Anna Duckworth, Miss Grass is all about rewriting the narrative of weed culture with women at the forefront. While working as a budtender in college back in 2008, Miller (another Jersey girl!) unknowingly planted the seeds for the future. A full decade before launching the brand as a digital education platform and curated CBD shop, she bought MissGrass.com. Their mission was to help women harness the potential therapeutic benefits of weed.
Miss Grass carefully grows and curates their terpene-rich products for people who think about cannabis as consciously as they do their food, wellness, and self-care routines. Miller and Duckworth know the cannabis industry’s success hasn’t been equally shared, so they make it a point to amplify voices for social justice. Through partnerships with Last Prisoner Project, Women’s Prison Association, Cage-Free Cannabis, and more, Miss Grass actively works toward repairing the harms of the War on Drugs.
“Women have always led—whether or not we’ve been given the official titles. In cannabis, that leadership means pushing for an industry that reflects the diversity of the people it serves. At Miss Grass, we’re not just building a brand, we’re shaping a movement that prioritizes access, education, and high-quality products. I’m proud to stand alongside other women-owned businesses, proving that cannabis is better when diverse voices lead the way.”

Brett Heyman | Edie Parker, Flower by Edie Parker
Founded by Brett Heyman, a former PR powerhouse at Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana, Edie Parker started as a luxury handbag brand before making its stylish leap into cannabis in 2019. The brand’s ethos is merging fashion and flower with bold designs, playful accessories, and premium products made for a good time. Flower by Edie Parker draws inspiration from mid-century aesthetics, vibrant colors, and a whole lot of humor, bringing top-tier cannabis to the table—not to be tucked away, but to be displayed and enjoyed.
With four Clio awards for excellence in design and social campaigns, Edie Parker isn’t just normalizing cannabis. It’s redefining it. And with Heyman at the helm, balancing her love of vintage finds, bold ideas, and good jeans, this brand is proof that cannabis can be both elevated and effortlessly cool.

Smrita Choubey | Veda Warrior
In 2019, Indian-American Smrita Choubey founded Veda Warrior to blend ancient wisdom with modern wellness. Veda Warrior is all about high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients that work in harmony with the body to redefine how we think about self-care based on the ancient holistic healing science of Ayurveda. With a background in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan, and later as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions at American Express, Choubey took her expertise and channeled it into a brand that prioritizes holistic health and balance.
Choubey’s mission is to transform wellness in the U.S., blending philosophy, culture, and community into every product, including infused cooking oils like olive oil, coconut oil, and ghee butter. The brand recently partnered with The Cannabist Company to bring its science-backed, plant-powered approach to New Jersey, marking a major milestone in its journey.
“I founded Veda Warrior with an audacious mission: to empower society with knowledge of proven holistic healing tools in order to reduce our dependence on a profit-driven healthcare system. I saw the need for a bridge between the ancient wisdom of natural medicine and the modern challenges of health and wellness. Too many of us are stuck in a cycle of over-prescribed medications that mask symptoms instead of addressing root causes. Ayurveda, with its profound understanding of medicinal plants such as cannabis and its personalized approach to healing, offers a better way—one that empowers people to take back control of their health naturally.”
